When it comes to reaching your fitness goals, what is your kryptonite?
What is the challenge that seems to pop up every time you try to move forward? Is it not taking time to get to the gym, eating too much sugar, or fading motivation?
My kryptonite? Happens to also be my motivation, my three girls. They are the very reason I am driven to be the strongest, healthiest and best version of myself I can be.
However, these three loves are the masters of zapping my motivation, energy and time:
*The endless stream of colds that comes with having two in school.
*The fact that I can’t remember the last time I slept through the night.
*Working around their nap and school schedules.
* Their uncanny ability to need a snack, a band-aid, a hug or an audience during any attempt to work out at home (despite my best attempt to coordinate workouts during the babies nap and right after lunch).
I know these days will fly by in the blink of an eye. I want to make the most of every moment I have with them. For me, this means making my health goals a priority and doing the best I can with what I have. So how do I make it happen? I am stubborn about my goals and flexible with my methods.
If that means I wake up at 5 am despite minimal sleep the night before. Throw in a workout video and crank it out during a nap. Mock up a redneck gym in my back yard and get my sweat on with a friend while the kids play.
Or making a game out of doing squats and lunges with a giggling little over my shoulders,I find a way to sweat it out 45 min at least 4 times a week.
It may not be perfect but it is better than nothing. For me fitness and health is a lifestyle. I know that one day I will have uninterrupted time and funds to pursue my goals. When that day comes, I hope I will enjoy my uninterrupted workout and know that I made the most of this chaotic season of life.
